Minions are abnormally fierce and bloodthirsty creatures, and and VERY good at hiding or covering it up. The movies based around the creatures often play the deaths and kills off as, "accidents" or something like that, but in secret texts documented by them they describe their plans and ways to cover it up so the future would be just as easy for them. The oldest record of this dates back to right around the the near-end of the dinosaur era of Earth. The writing, when translated, goes something along the lines of.

"We know a volcano is of the near nature, and we have devised a plan to use it. We have put obstacles for our master which they will stand upon. The rolling will lead to their demise."
